Full hand-dyed fair goatskin, finished in 23.5 carat gold leaf to a design inspired by one of the most remarkable and historically important Doves bindings. The pattern required 25 different hand tools,  and over 2100 individual impressions, excluding the gilt stippling. Following application of albumen glaire and gold leaf, each board was tooled in a single sitting lasting approximately 6 hours.
